Staying Strong During Times of Suffering

It is not easy to hold on in faith during times of suffering. It can be such a painful and disheartening experience as you are consumed with negative thinking, and you feel that there is no way out of the situation that you are facing. However, if you are enduring suffering of any form in your life right now, you can rest assured that God is with you, and He will never leave you alone to suffer. Therefore, stay grounded in your faith in Jesus Christ; you are still under the protection of God’s armour, and your suffering will not last forever.

Your suffering does not come as a surprise to God, and even though you may feel overwhelmed at times, remember God is still in control. So, do not become fearful or despondent but rest in the assurance that God is still holding your hand. You may sometimes feel that your strength is gone, but God will always be there no matter what.

Even Job, a righteous man of God, suffered greatly and said, “Even today is my complaint bitter. My stroke is heavier than my groaning.” Job 23:2. Suffering is painful, and at times there will be periods in your life where close friends and families may discourage you as your faith in God begins to dwindle. But, this is not the time to give in to the enemy; you need to hold on and trust God to complete His perfect work in your life, even during this challenging period. Spend time in daily prayer and meditation as you cry out to God and seek His guidance in your situation. The word of God is a panacea in your suffering as it offers assurances of the power of God’s ability to heal, calm and restore.

Like the Psalmist David who stated, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4. You can stand boldly and proclaim the word of God over your life. You are still under the banner of God’s protection, and nothing can stand in the way when God has a plan for your life. God is faithful and will fulfil all His promises and provide a breakthrough in His time.

In closing, I encourage you to look forward to brighter days and praise God for his goodness, even when you feel like your strength is failing. Your situation is temporary, and God will restore you with His joy and peace. Job demonstrated his confidence in God when he said, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Friends, God has a purpose for your temporary suffering, so hold on to Him in faith, nurture your relationship with Him, and He will one day turn …" your mourning into dancing."
